Here are a some important words from one of our younger alumni, Lt. Robert A. "Bobby" Jakucs, older brother of current active Mike Jakucs! Here he comments on the qualities of Brotherhood, Tradition, and the fraternal bond within Alpha Delta Gamma.

"Brotherhood. This word has a lot of connotations and meanings to different people. When you get down to it, it is an unbreakable bond shared by a group of people. This is exactly the definition of brotherhood that I found among the men of ADG and the reason that I joined. As a freshman at Loyola I remember being bombarded and almost overwhelmed with the variety of groups, sports teams and fraternities Loyola had to offer. This definitely is a good thing. There are a lot of fine organizations, fraternities and others, that Loyola has to offer. However, what drew me to ADG was the people. People from all walks of life, backgrounds and history, yet all of them were tied to each other in a way that I had never seen before outside of my own strong (and large) Italian-American family. It was the sense of family and brotherhood that I wanted to be a part of. A group of men, united in a common purpose and bound together in an unshakable bond.

I can honestly say that the best part of my college experience was being an ADG. I have built up a wealth of stories and good times to last a lifetime. On top of that I became part of an organization of men who are some of the finest individuals and the greatest friends I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. All of them, although unique in their own ways share the common basic principle of what it means to be a brother and live out our central tenet that "a brother who is helped by a brother is like a city walled". While I was deployed overseas I was inundated with care packages, emails and prayers from my brothers back home: alumni like myself but many from actives that I had never met before as well. Every time I come home it feels more like I am going home and seeing family then just a group of friends. Watching my younger brother, Michael, become an ADG and share in the history, traditions and brotherhood of the fraternity only added to this. It is not for everyone. There are plenty of great groups on campus that you can make life long friends and good memories. However, I doubt that there is an organization that lives out what it truly means to be a brother more fully than ADG."

Happy MLK Weekend!

Hope your first week and weekend has been bomb for you all and void of trouble! ADG entered with an awesome brotherhood retreat in addition to our usual shenanigans. With one week down, two weeks remain till rush; a certain event you should not miss is Car Smash, where you literally get to smash a car during convo hour! As we ramp up to rush week, here are some words from one of our alumni on the brotherhood composing ADG.

______________________________________________________

Whenever someone asks me whether I was in a college fraternity, I always get a big kick out of their reaction when I reply that "I still am!" I suppose the Greek experience is more transient for some, but one of the reasons I was so proud to become an ADG was that it truly is a lifetime relationship and, at least in my case, a life-changing experience. Very few causes to which I've devoted my time and energy have created such a strong sense of being needed by others, or provided so many different opportunities for helping make a positive difference in the world around us. It taught me to be both a better leader and a better team player, and to always maintain a basic level of respect for others.

Not to mention the fact that it's all been so much fun! Being a brother in ADG means establishing close personal bonds with some truly outstanding men – people you still want to be around, work with or just hang out long after college is over (in my case, 34 years and counting). And I think probably ADG's best-kept secret is our diversity, which is reflected in our huge alumni base; while we have our share of successful attorneys, doctors, business leaders and engineers, we also have teachers, writers, actors, musicians and artists – it really runs the gamut. And all those unique individuals contribute their own strand to the unique fabric that ADG represents.

Celebrating 60 Years of Awesomeness

Happy new years to all! From the brothers of Alpha Delta Gamma, we hope the holidays have been a wonderful escape from the worries of the academic semester, full of good tidings and equally many drinks. With break coming to a close, the responsibilities of school may seem to loom ahead; but look forward to the smiles of friends, the social life shenanigans, and the vast knowledge that is within your grasp.

For the AlphaDelts, this new calender year marks the 60th Anniversary of our arrival on LMU! We plan on kicking off this year with a bang! Be on the lookout for many awesome and exciting events that ADG will be having throughout the year to commemorate this milestone achievement alongside LMU's own anniversary, and join in on the fun! Keep an eye out for our Glow Golf and Dodgeball philanthropies! ADG is looking forward to another great rush and candidacy semester, and is excited to add more quality brothers to our fraternity of men.

Good luck to all of you throughout the semester and may your times be joyful and your grades high!

Happy Holidays!

The brothers of Alpha Delta Gamma would like to wish all an awesome winter break, devoid of all unhappiness and injuries. After the long and stressful week of finals, the AlphaDelts got together to celebrate our brother Ryan Follin's 21st birthday! Happy Birthday Follin!

This is truly one of the best times of the year, as almost everyone is genuinely happy and willing to give to others. We should live every day like it is a holiday, being thankful for all we have, spending time with family and friends, and looking hopefully to the future. If this held true year round, the world would be full of givers...not takers, and quite simply a much better life for all. It's the thought that counts!

May your days be relaxing as school responsibilities vanish with the ending of the semester! For those of you who are itching for the snowy slopes, stay safe and shred it up!

Happy Holidays from the AlphaDelts!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A few AlphaDelts destroying a piano on LMU's Alumni Mall in 1952! Nothing like a quality day of destruction, although today it revolves more around the culinary arts.
From the brothers of Alpha Delta Gamma
Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope your food comas are monstrous and your worries inconsequential. Remember to be thankful for the plethora of blessings that have come to you. Best wishes to all!
